Portuguese born, Roy, has 31 years of experience in the stone business. As a football (soccer) playing teen he moved with his family to Ontario, Canada to start their new lives. Beginning as an apprentice, he found a true passion and talent for one of the oldest trades in the world while also taking International Business at the University of Windsor and playing soccer. Taking a break only to pursue a career as a professional footballer for a few years. Missing Canada he returned to work his way through every task and position in the stone world. Whether it was man-made tile, limestone, quartz or marble and granite he has worked with them all. Roy has also spent his years learning and taking certifications in his trade, becoming a certified Stone Artisan and Fabricator. Being the traveling, adventure type he took his skills and languages to many places through out North America and the Caribbean. Some of the greatest projects he has been a part of are, Caesars Casino in Windsor, The Winnipeg International airport, Halifax Shopping Center, The Bow Building in Calgary, Alberta installing granite on all 52 floors. Tuckers Point Golf course and Resort, Bermuda. He also had the great honour of being asked to repair the original floor of The Bermuda Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity and Anglican Church built in 1884., He arrived in the Turks and Caicos in February of 2017 with his knowledge, experience and training, to assist Jan Durie and Atlantic Stone, in transitioning to new owners. With them running successfully he saw a need in the country to not just replace but an opportunity for customers to renew, repair and renovate the existing. With his wife joining him on the island he has opened Stonecraft, August 7 2018.
